THE DIGITAL DIVIDE

We can define the digital divide as the separation between people (communities, states, countries...) that use the information and communication technologies as a part of their daily routine and those who have not access to them and although they had this access, they would not be able to use them. It can be define as the difference of possibilities that exist to accede to the information, the knowledge and the education through the TIC.

To get more information about its causes, factors and projects to reduce it, you can see this video:

In conclusion, the digital divide has a difficult solution and this solution must be a matter of everyone. The developing countries should make an effort to carry out measures to reduce this digital divide but without our help, it will be impossible to reduce it.

Crowdfunding and PGA Tour

People that do not know anything about golf may think, and actually think, that it is an elitist sport practised by rich people that have no interest in helping people. I can show you that they are wrong!

First of all, I recommend you to see this presentation, to get familiar with the word "crowdfunding", that is a tool used for big and small projects to be fund.

The PGA Tour is a great example of a crowdfunding platform as many social initiatives are funded by PGA Tour's donations, players involvement and PGA Tour's initiatives.

With its foundation "THE FIRST TEE", PGA Tour is providing young people the education they need, spreading the golf values. The goal is to reach the $100 Million of donations by 2017.

For more information, you can visit the webpage: http://together.pgatour.com/the-first-tee/

"Birdies for the braves" is another initiative supported by the PGA Tour
(website: http://www.birdiesforthebrave.org/).
"Birdies for the Brave" was originally created by Phil Mickelson and his wife, Amy, to support troops injured during combat and their families. For each birdie or eagle made by Phil throughout the season, a contribution of $100 for a birdie or $500 for an eagle is made to Homes For Our Troops and Special Operations Warrior Foundation.

And PGA Tour also helds every TOUR player iniciative and foundation in the US or even in their home countries. Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson are an example of the commitment of the PGA Tour and its players with the community.

In the website together.pgatour.com you can deeply see the initiatives and projects supported by every player.

BOBs Awards

Let me do a parentheses in my sporty information to talk about the BOBs Awards.

These awards born in 2004 with the goal to spread the messages and to reflect the growing importance of the international blogsphere. In short, these awards promote the freedom of expression and opion all over the world.
The BOBs have 17 categories in 11 languages and the online voters are the ones who decide which is the winner in each category. So these awards have a great importance in order to report the existance of very important blogs all over the world that in other circumstances we could not have heard about.

One of the most important categories is the "Reporters Without Borders" one, that select blogs with a huge importance from the journalistic point of view. The two blogs most voted at the moment reflect the need to have freedom of speech and they show us how authoritarian governments want to encroach upon media and citizens freedom.

If you let me do a recomendation, my favorite blog from this category is the blog of Dmitry Ternowsky, that talks about the stupid restrictions that the authoritarian Russian government does. Even it is in Russian, it is interesting!!

Luke is back!

Luke Donald has became the number 1 golfer in the World again after an impressive victory in the Transitions Championship.

Luke entered the week needing a win to recover his position at the top of the ranking and, as the number one that he is, he won. Is not the first time that Luke need a win to archieve an important goal and he wins. We must remember that last year he had to win the Childrens's Miracle Network to win the PGA Tour's order of merit, and he did it.

Luke dispels any kind of doubt about his performance this year in the right moment, two weeks before the first Major of the Year, the Masters.

Now he is ready to Augusta, to win his first Major, in other words, to be part of the history.
